Correspondence, newsclippings, announcements, and topical files of the Chicago Heritage Committee, an organization that sought to encourage historic preservation efforts in the Chicago area. Correspondents include Thomas Stauffer, president; Richard Nickel, secretary. Much of the correspondence was with other conservation groups. Topical files include background information on the Chicago neighborhood called the Gap Area (31st-35th Streets); on buildings: Auditorium Theater, Boyd House, Chicago Civic Center (later the Daley Center), Chicago Court House, Farm-in-the-Zoo, Garrick Theatre Building, Madlener House, McCormick Place, Petrillo Band Shell, Pilgrim Baptist Church, Reliance Building, Robie House, A.W. Sullivan House, Unitarian Universalist Church; and on the possibility of a lake-front airport and other environmental issues.
